Current Programme
Meetings are held either in the Resource Room close to the Observatory (RR), or in the Science Lab in the school (SL). Rooms open at 7:30pm and talks start at 8:00 sharp.
Observing sessions
- Held at the Piazzi Smyth Observatory on every CLEAR Wednesday between October and April - unless otherwise stated
- Everyone is welcome to attend and members of BAS will be on hand to answer any questions
- All times are as per current clock settings (UT in Winter, BST in Summer)
- Observing will take place regardless of the moon phase
- Observing will also take place on Committee nights
- There is generally no observing on members evenings (last Wednesday of the month), unless otherwise noted
- Dark Site Observing is held at Daisy Banks Picnic Site - see here for a map to get there
December 2009
- Saturday 5th December: Bedford Gallery 11:00am to 4:00pm. Exhibition opens on Admiral Smyth and Local Astronomers. BAS in attendance with telescopes etc.
- Tuesday 8th December : Bedford Gallery 7:00pm. Talk on Admiral Smyth and Local Astronomers by Dave Eagle & Linton Guise
- Wednesday 9th December : Observatory. Observing and Moon sketching. Processing lunar video if time allows
- Thursday 10th December : Observatpry. 7:00pm. Museum Group 1 visiting the Observatory
- Wednesday December 16th : Bedford Gallery 1:00pm - 1:30pm. ‘A Beginners guide to Astronomy’ a talk by Peter Hudson
- Wednesday December 16th : Planetarium. 7:45pm for 8pm start. BAS Christmas Meeting, Entertainment by Annabelle and images round up by Darren. Dontations of "goodies" for the evening much appreciated!
- Wednesday December 23rd : No Observing. Restarts Wednesday 6th Jan

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!
If you are able to offer a short (15-20 minute) presentation on any astronomical subject (your own images, observatory building project, etc.) please let us know. Your offer will be much appreciated!! We can help with computers and presentation equipment - we need you and the material!!
Please note - Non-members are welcome to attend up to two meetings free of charge (two meetings may constitute one meeting and one observing session or two observing sessions). Thereafter, we would ask you to join
