Occultation of Aldebaran

Event Date:
Thursday, October 29, 2015

On the evening of 29th October, Aldebaran (alpha Tauri) is occulted by the 91% lit Moon.

Starting at approx 21:32, the occultation lasts until just after 23:00, when the giant star will re-emerge from the unlit slice of the Moon

The first image shows Aldebaran just before the occultation starts, and the second, as the star emerges. This should be an interesting observing and imaging opportunity - provided the weather plays ball!
